Certified Measurement & Verification Professional® - CMVP®
The Association of Energy Engineers has established the Certified Measurement and Verification Professional® program with the dual purpose of recognizing the most qualified professionals in this growing area of the energy industry, and raising the overall professional standards within the measurement and verification field.
A Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP®) is an individual who applies the concepts of measurement and verification to determine the performance improvement resulting from energy management activities within a wide range of energy-consuming systems, such as building systems or industrial processes.
What you will learn:
- Learn about the fundamental method for creating M&V plans or performing M&V as required by others.
- Learn how to apply the core M&V program concepts and framework to a wide variety of facilities, including existing and new buildings and industrial processes.
- Undertake a review of the primary international standards, guidelines and protocols, such as the ASHRAE® and ISO with a detailed explanation of how they compare and contrast.
- Learn the importance of establishing clear communication of core concepts with all project partners to avoid misunderstandings.

As the Energy Management champion at Isuzu East Africa, I am now enabled to consider all factors to professionally evaluate Energy Conservation Measures for their savings. Prior to undertaking the CMVP course, my understanding of this field was very limited. Thetraining has broadened my understanding of what measurement and verification is all aboutand how far reaching it is. It’s totally worth it!
I came to the CMVP course expecting to be heavily bombarded with calculations and engineering principles. I was pleasantly surprised that it was more about actually getting energy efficiency projects from planning all the way to implementation and realization of benefits while at the same time providing the recipient and other stakeholders the confidence that the savings expected from their energy efficient measures are real and can be tangibly verified.
The training opens up a 360 degree approach to the energy savings/ avoided energy use andM&V approaches for the various ECMs proposed for the Energy Performance Contracts
