Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) EPC Practitioner.
EPC Practitioner is a skills programme Qualification that is credit bearing towards the Occupational Certificate: Energy Efficiency Technician full qualification registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Certified EPC Practitioner (CEPCP) is the Certification recognizing current validity of skills in the Energy Performance Certificates for Buildings industry, enhancing the credibility of your QCTO Certificate.
When earning an IEPA Certification credential you are distinguishing yourself among colleagues in your field and demonstrating high levels of experience, competence, and specialized knowledge – but we need to know more about you in order for you to be bestowed this honor.
Your application will be assessed by taking into account your exam status when you have “passed’ your exam, your highest relevant qualification(s), and very important is your *relevant work experience (*relevant to the certification you are applying for).

Please keep the following documents handy to upload when you apply:
- A copy of your highest qualification(s) that are relevant to your certification that you are applying for
- A copy of your Professional Registration Information (ECSA or Architect or other)

You will be requested to list your latest qualification(s) information that is relevant to the certification you are applying for, and to upload the copy of the qualification(s). The following information must be provided so keep it handy:
- Name of qualification
- Institution (university/college) that you attended
- From (yyyy-mm-dd) and to (yyyy-mm-dd) dates that you attended each university/college
- Year you received the qualification(s)
- ONLINE APPLICATION: WORK EXPERIENCE
No CVs are accepted – you are required to complete details of your relevant work experience in the online platform.
Core to your application is the number of years of experience relevant to the certification you are applying for. The IEPA EPC Certification Board reviews your application based on the information you provide and how you describe what work you did, for how long, and how it relates to your certification that you are applying for. Please make sure you don’t neglect this area, provide us with sufficient information to motivate for you to be successful in your application.
Include the following for all your current and previous years of work experience:
- From (mmm dd,yyyy) and to (mmm dd,yyyy ex Jan 5,2020 – Aug 26,2023) dates for each job you had up till now
- Company name
- Job title/position held
- Comprehensive statement of relevant work performed at said company (for each company) – keep the related nature of the certification you are applying for in mind when completing your work experience so that the reviewers can form a clear opinion of competence which you need to demonstrate through describing your tasks and experience. Remember, they cannot verify what they do not know.
- VERIFICATION LETTERS FROM REFERENCES
We need to establish if you are currently in paid employment, as this is one of the requirements for successful Certification. Therefore, we need confirmation from your employer if you are employed, or your clients if you are self-employed. The IEPA EPC Certifications are designations that recognise various levels of competence taking all eligibility criteria into account.
Should a candidate still not meet the work experience requirement, whilst achieving a pass in the examination, the In-Training Status could be awarded, whereafter, the candidate has 6 years to gain experience.
