View Training Programme – KZN

Who may apply?

  • You must have completed your Electrician Qualification OR your electrical engineering qualification of NQF 4 or higher or any other engineering qualification
  • You must have passed maths and science
  • You must reside in the KwaZulu-Natal Province so that you can attend the practical training
  • Preferably you must be unemployed currently
  • You must be available full day from 1 November 2022 to 31 January 2025
  • You must adhere to all deadlines as to not cause delays in your appointment

Where to apply?

  • Invitations are circulating through social media, stakeholder networks, and TVET college & UT contacts to apply to join the program
  • Visit the website iepa.org.za and click on EPC Practitioner to find the application link
  • Online applications through the website will be accepted – no email or text applications will be replied to
  • Expect feedback within 5 working days from application deadline of 21 October 2022

What to expect when you apply?

  • You must have the following copies handy to upload onto the online application portal:
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Certified Copy of ID document
    • Certified Copy of Matric Certificate
    • Certified Copy of Matric/Gr 12 Results
    • Certified Copy of VALID Driver’s license (if you have)
    • Certified Copy of your HIGHEST Qualification
    • Proof of residence (FICA)
    • Bank confirmation letter for your stipend
    • SARS Tax Number
  • You will receive correspondence from us to confirm receipt, with a Guideline to Online Interviews and Video Recording where you will be required to make a recording about yourself for your prospective employer – make sure you look professional and speak clearly on the video
  • We will contact your references to confirm your CV details
  • You will undergo an interview with the IEPA Human Resources Manager, whereafter your details will be made available to prospective employers who may contact you for an interview
  • Once an employer has selected you, you will receive an employment letter confirming your employment, together with the various Human Resource and Labour Policies that will apply to your employment period
  • Thereafter you will be expected to:
    • Join the EPC Practitioner training from 1 November 2022 to 31 January 2023
    • Report to your workplace on 1 February 2023 for an induction to the company policies and requirements. Your internship ends 31 January 2025.

What will it cost an intern to take part?

  • You will not have to pay for the programme or any books
  • You will receive stipend payments totaling R4,950-00 from which only UIF of 1% will be deducted
    • Payments will be made monthly on the last day of the month
    • You MAY not change bank accounts during the duration of the Internship

  • Intern applications close on 21 October 2022 at midnight

Where will the programme be held?

  • Only for KwaZulu-Natal residents – FICA required

What will interns get?

  • Interns will be working towards achieving the EPC Practitioner Certification and the Certified Energy Auditor
  • The basic knowledge and understanding required to enter the energy efficiency industry
  • Two-year internship of R4,950-00 per month, with UIF 1% deduction
  • A mentor to assist the intern with the assignment of performing the assessment of a building for an EPC and prepare for the CEA examination
  • Work experience in the energy industry

What we expect from the intern?

  • To be dedicated to the programme and the rules and guidelines provided
  • Attend class and deadlines as per the programme requirements
  • To ask questions when not sure to the project coordinator, assessor, trainer or mentor
  • To respect the rules and requirements of the sites the intern will be visiting during the programme
  • Adhere to the Human Resource Handbook requirements as well as those of your workplace
  • Adhere to the Non-Disclosure Agreement signed on contract
  • Adhere to the Protection of Personal Information Act
  • Comply with the attendance and feedback requirements of the programme for monitoring and evaluation purposes which includes:
    • Communicating with the project coordinator on any matters of concern as soon as they become a problem
    • Sign the daily attendance register – absence without allowed leave will result in stipend payment reductions
    • Providing 4 question online feedback on monthly activities
